On 20–21 August 2026, a representative of the Human Rights and Development Foundation (HRDF) participated in the 4th ASEAN Consultation on the Human Right to Development to Enhance and Strengthen the ASEAN Community and Its Implementation, held in Dili, Timor-Leste.

The consultation provided a space for representatives from ASEAN Member States, civil society, and experts to exchange perspectives on promoting the Right to Development and the Right to Peace, as well as approaches to implementing the ASEAN Declaration on Promoting the Right to Development and the Right to Peace Towards Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Development.

For HRDF, participation in regional ASEAN spaces provides an important opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives on human rights, labour rights, and inclusive development, while listening to the voices and experiences of civil society actors across the region.

The consultation also served as a space to connect human rights and development perspectives and explore ways to advance development that is equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and respectful of everyone’s rights.
