On 25 February 2013, Mr. Somchai Homlaor, Secretary General of HRDF, together with members of Southeast Asia Legal Aid Network (SEALAW) travelled to Naypyidaw, Burma in order to visit Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and chairperson of the Commission on the Rule of Law, House of Representatives.
The meeting aimed at establishing a cooperation agreement and receiving advice regarding the provision of legal aid services for Burmese people. Furthermore, Mr. Somchai briefed Mrs. Suu Kyi about the situation of migrant workers in Thailand. During the meeting Mr. Somchai also presented to Mrs. Suu Kyi several HRDF publications in Burmese language about labor rights, the rights to organize, the prevention of human trafficking and the verficiation process for Burmese migrant workers in Thailand.เมื่อวันที่ 25 กุมภาพันธ์ 2556 นายสมชาย หอมลออ เลขาธิการมูลนิธิเพื่อสิทธิมนุ
การเข้าพบครั้งนี้นายสมชายและคณะ ได้ขอการสนับสนุนและปรึกษาแนวทางในการผลักดันด้านนโยบายและกฎหมายในการช่วยเหลือประชาชนทางกฎหมายของประเทศพม่า รวมทั้งร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนสถานการณ์เกี่ยวกับแรงงานข้ามชาติในประเทศไทย โดยนายสมชายได้มอบหนังสือคู่มือด้านสิทธิแรงงาน สิทธิในการรวมกลุ่มของแรงงาน กฎหมายและแนวปฏิบัติสำหรับเจ้าหน้าที่ในการต่อต้านการมนุษย์ และการพิสูจน์สัญชาติของแรงงานข้ามชาติ เป็นภาษาพม่า ที่ทางมูลนิธิเพื่อสิทธิมนุษยชนและการพัฒนา ได้จัดทำขึ้นแก่นางอองซาน ซูจี
